From The Couch To The Kitchen, a food book written and drawn by the students of Dorsey High School, by way of 826LA, and in collaboration with Yello,Friends!

This honest, and humorous book collects individual stories from Dorsey High's own creative studies students, using their past and current experiences as a lens when writing about food in their lives. Whether there are stories about walking to their favorite market, and describing each and every ingredient in Hemingway-esque fashion, they were able to visualize them. Unfortunately, some of the drawings were not of the best quality, but fortunately, that's where we, as Yello,Friends! stepped in—to clean up, brew up, and blend up a concoction of classic story-telling coupled with inspired, quirky art. 

The foreword is written by Alice Waters, a very famous chef, entrepreneur, writer, and activist.

This year marks a more emphasized relationship between the United States Ski Association (represented by the professional athletes of the U.S. Ski Team). This extensive publication for Audi of America, encapsulates the brand stories associated with Audi as we see and hear today. Only published once a year, every year, I had a chance to project their vision, while hinting at new technologies for the near future. Designed in collaboration with other fine folks, but my role here was art direction, and bits of conceptual, creative direction.

BRIDExPRESS is a subversive, faux-magazine to lure would-be 'Mail-Order Johns' slightly re-educating the misinformed stereotype of Russian mail-order bride culture. It is designed to deter consumers, and enlighten the audience as a one-time experimental publication aiming to raise awareness in human trafficking.

The information here has been cobbled from many underground and well known resources found online, coupled with field research and interview with an actual former mail-order bride. Her re-telling of a frightening and enlightening experience are used as inspiration for each particular editorial feature, creating a progressively lecture-like "verbal spanking". It is a gentle, but educative reinforcement and mental support for a dark process, but informative at the very least.

Teamed up with fellow Art Center photog, Bettina Chavez, on this global warming campaign poster. I art-directed the idea that came riffing off the Mexican home altar, along with some Day-Of-The-Dead ephemera. As a side note, this was perfect timing for the poster to come out because a few months later, Al Gore's acclaimed documentary, "The Inconvenient Truth" had been released, making this campaign all the more relevant.

The HP Garage is a "blue-sky" trans-disciplinary project that involved Hewlett Packard's challenge to re-introduce themselves into a new market during the height of the 2008 Recession. Through our design research, we've stumbled upon an unchallenged market: budding entrepreneurs. In this respect, my team and I, plus a couple of business marketing consultants on hand designed a full programme including creation of an identity, environmental design, large outdoor interactive screens, and total brand experience encapsulated as a high-end traveling business and creative workshop.

The trends for the previous two years had shown us that technology and business helped individuals get their feet off the ground through innovative business strategy; a feature Hewlett Packard has been touting for years on end. (They invented the cubicle, just so you know.)
